Diamond Grinding Segments and Plates are available in a wide range of bonds and diamond grit size to cover a wide range of applications. All segments and plates are manufactured within the EU. Our Standard range of diamond segments are suitable for a wide range of applications including grinding and levelling floors, removal of paint, general coatings, screeds and the cleaning and preparation of power floated floors.
Bolt on diamond segments are the standard fitment to all PWM grinding machines and are completely interchangeable between models.
Bond – The strength of the metal binder that holds the diamond grit in the segment. Typically the harder the bond the longer the life. An abrasive subfloor will require a harder bond. A harder floor will require a softer bond. Concrete slabs will always vary from site to site, no two floors are ever the same! The more abrasive the floor the harder bond you will need to get the best performance out of the diamonds.
Grit – The size of the diamond grit in the segment. Typically the larger the grit the more aggressive the segment will be. The smaller the grit the finer the finish will be. The higher the number then the finer the finish that can be achieved e.g. 3000 grit will give a highly polished finish while a 16 grit will give an open scratched finish.
Concrete – can be soft, hard, abrasive, dusty and brittle etc. No two floors are ever the same, typically they are more abrasive when new or have a high sharp sand content. The more abrasive the floor the harder bond you will need to get the best performance out of the diamonds.
DFG 5-3 Diamond Segment – Very Soft Bond 25 Grit Diamond – Aggressive silver segments with a soft bond combination making these segments ideal for very hard floors. The soft bond is designed to wear away on the hard materials so that new sharp diamond grit is constantly being exposed. Segment life is sacrificed to the benefit of increased output. Ideal for low powered grinders
DFG 7-3 Diamond Segment – Medium Bond 25 Grit Diamond – Aggressive blue segments with a medium bond combination making these segments ideal for the removal of coatings from very hard floors. Similar applications as the DFG5-3 but offering longer life and suitable for heavier more powerful machines.
DFG 7-4 Diamond Segment – Medium Bond 30/40 Grit – One of our most versatile segments suitable for a wide range of applications – a “general purpose” segment better suited to hard rather than soft concrete. This segment type will give a finish suitable for a paint coating and is ideal for the removal of trowel marks and similar. A good balance of segment life V output that is effective over a wide range of surfaces.
DFG 7-5 Diamond Segment – Medium Bond 80 Grit – the first stage of metal bond polishing. These bonds are an alternative to normal resin bonded polishing pads as they offer far better wear rates. Final polish with a resin pad in the equivalent grit size will still be needed.
DFG 7-6 Diamond Segment – Medium Bond 120 Grit – the second stage of metal bond polishing. These bonds are an alternative to normal resin bonded polishing pads as they offer far better wear rates. Final polish with a resin pad in the equivalent grit size will still be needed.
DFG 8-4 Diamond Segment – Hard Bond 30/40 grit – These segments offer a similar finish to the DFG7-4 but sacrifice a little output for better wear rates. Normally used on new or abrasive concrete, they have a stronger/harder bond which wears away slowly to expose the diamond grit. A long life segment!
DFG 9-4 Diamond Segment – Very Hard Bond 30/40 – These diamond segments have the hardest bond in our range while offering a similar finish to the DFG7-4 / 8-4 The ideal segment for very abrasive concrete. A very long life segment but some speed of output has been sacrificed.
DFG GT Diamond Segment – Our secret weapon for the hardest of floors when they will not grind!
PCD “Grit” Diamond Segments – Hard Bond, very large grit size, typically 8-10mm – These segments have been designed specifically for the removal of adhesives, thick coatings and latex. Unlike standard segments the PCD segments have a scraping/cutting action that prevents smearing that can result from heat build up.Not intended for grinding down concrete, perfect for the removal of bituminous coatings, adhesives and latex. PCD “Grit” are more resistant to accidental damage than the PCD Plate type segment. A high output, long life segment that easily justifies the higher investment.
PCD “Plate” Diamond Segments Please note correct rotation of grinding head must be specified when ordering. They are available in Clockwise and Counter Clockwise formats as denoted by the direction arrow machined into each plate. PCD “Plate” are our most aggressive segments for the removal of thick latex. coatings and adhesives. They have been designed to work with the rotation of the machine, incorrect rotation will destroy them in seconds – you have been warned!
