Floor stripping machine FAQs
What is a floor stripper?
A floor stripper is a powered floor covering removal machine with a vibrating blade that lifts the top layer of flooring from the sub-floor. Depending on the model, a floor stripper can remove carpet, rubber coatings, membranes, lino, vinyl, cork, parquet, hardwood or ceramic tile. Hiring a floor stripper is ideal when you need professional results without buying a machine outright.
How do I use a floor stripper?
Always read the machine’s instruction manual and fit the correct blade for the surface you’re removing. While pushing the machine forwards, avoid bolts, expansion joints or anything protruding from the floor. If you’re unsure which machine or blade to hire, call us and we’ll recommend the best setup for your job.
Should I hire a floor stripper or buy one?
If you only remove floor coverings occasionally, floor stripper rental is usually the most cost-effective option. If you’re using a floor stripping machine regularly, buying may be better long-term. Remember, if you hire from PWM and then decide to buy, we’ll credit one week’s hire fee against your purchase.
