Site transformers are used to convert standard 240v power supplies down to the recognised safer 110v. This voltage is recognised throughout the UK as a safer power supply for power tools, grinders vacuums, lighting etc.when being operated on site. The defender 5KVA transformer has two 16A power outlets and one 32A power outlet. Other socket combinations are available. The 5KVA transformer is fully transportable and is fitted with full protection against overload, the enclosure is resistant to shock and impact and has fitted carry handles for convenience.
The 5KVA transformer can be operated at slightly reduced output from a standard 13A, 240v supply, to achieve maximum 32A output the transformer must be connected to a 16A, 240v supply (Blue, 3 pin plug).
Always ensure any extension leads used are a minimum of 2.5mm cable on the 16A outlets and 4.mm cable on the 32A outlet. Always work with the absolute minimum length of cable to avoid voltage drop and problems with the power tool tripping. It is rarely the tool that is at fault, in most cases problems are caused by long power cables and under rated cables causing supply problems.
Larger 10KVA site transformers are available to order as are 110v transformers designed to operate from a three phase supply.
