Elephant Shot Blaster Instructions & Specs

Category: Brand:

Overview

The Contec Elephant is the smallest and most portable mobile shot blaster in the Contec range — purpose-built for
confined-space surface preparation where manoeuvrability and dust-free performance are critical.
It achieves a consistent CSP 3–4 finish on concrete or steel and operates from 110 V, 230 V or 400 V supplies.
The 400 V / 4 kW version includes an integrated drive for steady, uniform travel and finish.

When paired with a certified H-Class extractor from PWM’s Industrial Dust Control range,
the Elephant delivers fully compliant, silica-safe operation in enclosed or sensitive areas.

Key Benefits

  • Compact, confined-space performance — ideal for ship decks, hatches, tanks and plant rooms.
  • Power flexibility: 110 / 230 V (1~) or 400 V (3~) options.
  • Integrated drive on 4 kW models for consistent forward pace.
  • Low vibration ≈ 2.8 m/s² for safer full-shift operation.
  • Lightweight ≈ 87 kg (two-person handling).
  • Quick-change wear parts — no special tools required.
  • Flat-front design allows blasting right up to walls and obstructions.
  • Verified £5.07 / hour wear cost to control operating expense.

Compact & Confined-Access Design

  • Base dimensions: approx. 70 × 40 × 64 cm (handle removed).
  • Fits through openings ≈ 45 cm wide × 65 cm high.
  • Tool-free handle and hose removal in ≈ 2 minutes.
  • Can be part-dismantled for entry to vessels or tanks.
  • Typical use cases: ship hatches, cooling-tower floors, pump halls, balconies, garages and service corridors.

  • Replace blades when < 3 mm thickness; check skirts and hoses regularly.
  • Operate only on dry surfaces and wear suitable PPE.
  • Minimum extractor airflow: 540 m³/h (CDM 3000 or equivalent).

Professional FAQs

What drive options are available?

The 4 kW 400 V model includes drive as standard. A 3 kW 400 V can be factory-upgraded to 4 kW without drive.

Which power supplies can it run from?

110 V, 230 V (1~) and 400 V (3~) connections using a 16 A plug.

How portable is it?

Approx. 87 kg assembled; handle and hose remove in minutes for tight access. Fits through 45 × 65 cm openings.

What extractor should I use?

Certified H-Class unit with ≥ 540 m³/h airflow — PWM TV150, Coynco iClean s-3m or Planet 740.

Where does the Elephant perform best?

Confined industrial and marine environments — ship hatches, cooling-tower floors, plant rooms and maintenance tunnels where larger blasters cannot fit.
